Nestled in the heart of Red Hook, the Patrick F. Daly Magnet School of the Arts is a small community school with a STEAM focused curriculum, serving students in grades Prek-5. We are a diverse, inclusive, nurturing and vibrant community that provides a standards-based educational program including a Spanish Dual Language PreK-5 program and an ACES (Academics Careers and Essential Skills) program which serves children with intellectual and multiple disability in both a small class and integrated classroom setting. We take a holistic approach to education that nurtures the whole child and offer a wide range of arts and community partnerships.
The first day of school is Thursday, September 5th. The school day is from 8:10-2:30 for grades K-5 and 8:10-11:00 for Prek students!
Welcome letters and supply lists went home in June and for new students, over the summer. If you did not receive this information, please feel free to contact Melissa Johnson, our parent coordinator! This information will also be available on the first day of school.
We have a limited number of seats available in PreK through Fourth grade available. We will be open for registration on 8/27 and 8/28 from 10:00-1:00. Please bring: your child's birth certificate, two items with your address, and your child's immunization records.
The Reading Workshop session for families and staff that was scheduled for August 29th has been CANCELLED. We will reschedule for the fall!
OPEN SCHOOL NIGHT is Thursday, September 12th from 4:00-7:00! Please join us in meeting your child's teachers and in attending a curriculum presentation for each grade. A schedule and flyer will be sent home the first few days of school.

Join us for a workshop with Teaching Matters where we will learn techniques and approaches to better understand your child’s performance and how we can collaborate to use evidence and data to support your child.
August 21st, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM: Join us for our founding Social Emotional Learning Committee meeting! We will be planning the implementation of a new program called RULER, continue to build on our 4Rs and Good Citizens Program, expand our restorative practices including Restorative Circles and Peace Tables, and plan for the implementation of a new attendance incentive program.

P.S.15 unique sensory gym was featured on FOX 5 News this morning - Kerry Drew - 6:21 am It’s a chance for kids to just be kids and learn some life changing skills along the way. This is no ordinary gym class, it’s a sensory gym at P.S. 15, which is changing the lives of children with developmental delays and behavioral disorders. Sara Baloch is an occupational therapist with the New York City Department of Education. She explains that each hands-off activity allows kids to work on movement and speech by engaging their senses. Medical research on the effectiveness of sensory rooms on children with special needs is limited, but small scale trials show that it helps children, especially those with autism. These kids are also reaching major life milestones, such as one child who was nonverbal is now speaking.
It’s time to sign up for a new Fall Season of aftercare, which will run daily from October 29 - December 21. Sign-up is now available online at ps15aftercare.jumbula.com. You can also pick up paper applications in the main office and PTA office. There will be an information session about middle school choice and applications on 10/9 at 8:15 am and 2:30 pm and on 10/17 at 8:15 am in the PS 15 auditorium.
GET ON THE BUS! The middle school fair is on 10/17 at MS 88 beginning at 5:00. All middle schools will be represented. Meet at the PS 15 main entrance at 4:30 PM and join Ms. Stass and Ms. Cavanagh in attending the fair. PS 15 PTA is generously supporting transportation to and from the event. We will return to Red Hook by 8:00 PM. Details for transportation are still being a finalized, when they are a tear off sign up flyer will go home as soon as possible; stay tuned!
Dear PS 15 Parents: Thank you for your interest in PS 15’s aftercare program. The PTA is partnering with Hassan Blandford of FTF to provide daily aftercare to children from Pre-K to 5th Grade. Preliminary plans and logistical details are listed below, but please check back to this site later in the month for more information and to sign up. Also, please bear in mind that the program is rolling out this year and we’re still figuring out what will work best for our parent community. We welcome feedback from parents, caregivers, and teaching staff, and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
Aftercare will be available from 2:30-4:15pm for $18 per day or 2:30-6:00 pm for $22 per day. Parents can sign up for the entire week of care, or for a particular day or combination of days. More information for scholarships and sliding scales will be posted.
There will be four seasons of care: Preseason, Fall, Winter, and Spring.
Preseason will be from September 5 - October 26, with a September 6 start for Kindergartners and a September 7 start for Pre-K students, due to early dismissals for younger grades. (Pre-K and Kindergarten will be separated from older grades, with activities catered to their age group.)
The next season, Fall, will be from October 29 – December 21. Sign-up for those dates will be available Oct 1.
DAILY SCHEDULE: The afternoon will begin with a snack and open play/homework time. If the weather is good, children will also have a chance to play outside. After recess/snack, there will be extra-curricular activities led by FTF staff, PS 15 staff, or guest teaching artists, including movement, drama, visual arts, sports, cooking, language arts, and martial arts.
When enrichment clubs/classes start, they will take place from 3:00-4:00 p.m. and will be available for an additional fee. The clubs will be available on particular days, for example “Martial Arts Monday” and parents will purchase a season of the club in addition to purchasing a season of care. We’re hoping to partner with local organizations like Cora Dance, Cobble Hill Ballet, and Mission Martial Arts.

Registration Fee: $35.00 (Registration fee is charged once per school year)
Deposit/Payment policies: You may choose to either pay the entire fee at the time you enroll, or pay in two equal monthly installments.
Late Pick-up Fees: If you pick up your child after 6pm, you will be charged $10. After 6:30, $20.
Financial Aid Scholarships and financial aid are available. Please download the form located on this website available after 8/15, or contact PS15aftercare@gmail.com. Forms can be sent electronically to the same address or left in the PS15 Aftercare mailbox located in the main office. Forms for PS15 Aftercare will also be available in the Parent Coordinator’s Office.
