PS 15 Families Distance Learning
May 22, 2020
Dear PS 15 Families,This time of year is usually bubbling and buzzing with performances, celebrations, and joyful events for our community. It is disappointing we will not be able to be together in person this year for this special time for elementary school children and their families. It is certainly a challenging time for everyone, and now more than ever, taking time to connect with a loved one and allocating time for joy and self-care is so important. We hope the schedule our cluster team has prepared from May 26th through June 8th will provide you all with a menu of fun and joyful activities and virtual events. Please know that there is flexibility built into the schedule; engage in what is doable and interesting for your child and your family. Please do follow your child’s daily/weekly attendance procedures. While your family enjoys our “Cluster Club”, classroom teachers will be meeting with our children 1:1 and in small groups to complete, as best we can, end of year assessments. These conferences have been adapted for our new virtual reality and will serve to celebrate and capture the progress your child has made this year while also providing us with valuable information about how we can support your child as we prepare for the next school year.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us. The school phone is checked daily (718-330-9280), you can reach our Parent Coordinator, Melissa Johnson at 917-669-0508 or email@example.com, or Ms. Cavanagh, our assistant principal, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to “seeing” you all at upcoming virtual events. We are not physically together, but our community remains connected!
A big big thank you!To our partner Extreme Kids and Crew and the congregations and volunteers at The Church of the Holy Apostles, Redemption Church and Park Slope Community Church. Extreme Kids as an organization, as well as individual board members, have donated school and art supplies and critical funds for our families who have been impacted by COVID-19. In addition, Extreme Kids is providing a myriad of support and activities for children and families. Please visit their website to explore their offerings here: https://www.extremekidsandcrew.org/. In addition, the congregation and leadership at The Church of the Holy Apostles has sponsored 40 PS 15 families for supplies and support and they are currently working to provide further financial and food support for our community. Redemption Church and Park Slope Community Church organized a distribution day last week for food and supplies support. If your family needs tech support or support with school supplies or food or financial support, please fill out the PTA’s Family Assistance Form or Sponsorship Form! If you are in a position to donate to support other PS 15 families, the link to donate is here.
