PS 15 Families Distance Learning
Dear PS 15 Families,Our first week of Fun Times at PS 15: Cluster Club has wrapped up and I hope you and your children found ways to engage throughout the week, whether it was exploring a virtual garden tour or live animal experience , completing a book scavenger hunt, sharing a project, attending an author visit, or becoming a master escape artist! Next week’s offerings are just as exciting! Our annual Art Show has been moved to a virtual space and our annual Carnival will be a virtual, but still hopefully fun and exciting, experience. While your children and your family engaged in Cluster Club offerings, children also began meeting 1:1 with their teachers to capture and celebrate this year’s progress while also providing valuable information regarding how we can best support your child moving forward. Please do ensure that your child has the opportunity to meet with their teacher 1:1 by June 8th as teachers have made appointments for each child.
It is my hope that all of our families were able to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend. As we remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to serve and protect our country, events that have unfolded over the last few weeks also give us cause for pause. We are part of a district and school community who have taken steps, and led city-wide, to promote inclusion, diversity, and acceptance. I am deeply proud of this work. I know you all join me in a collective desire to build a better world for our children, where each and every life is equally cherished and valued. Our work continues.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us. The school phone is checked daily (718-330-9280), you can reach our Parent Coordinator, Melissa Johnson at 917-669-0508 or email@example.com, or Ms. Cavanagh, our assistant principal, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As June quickly approaches, and will surely go by in the blink of an eye, I am mindful of the summer months and uncertainty that lies ahead. Please know that any information regarding the upcoming school year will be shared as soon as we receive it. I want to stress the most important thing at this time is nurturing and valuing your relationships, especially with your children. Practice self-care and know, if you need us, we are here!
Technology and Distance Learning Support!
Zoom Troubles? Some folks have had difficulty re-joining Zoom. A few tips: students must confirm the switch in their DOE email. Go to gmail.com and log in with your child’s @nycstudents account to access your child’s email. When using a smartphone or ipad, the SSO option is the option to select when prompted the first time logging into Zoom on the new platform. For more support, the Department of Education maintains an infohub for parents with support links, videos, etc: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/learn-at-home/technical-tools-and-support
Please use this sheet to request assistance with technology, a PS 15 volunteer will reach out to you directly: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSep6sHgAPoMpDcvRoHEb8kCh31vqHLM9Ww5dYRLFOamq_Qdkg/viewform?usp=sf_link
